GREATER LEWISVILLE
COMMUNITY THEATRE ANNOUNCES
2009-2010 SEASON
GLCT President George Redford
has announced the 27th season. Following the annual fund-raiser, August 21
to September 6, we will present the following productions. Check this site
regularly for audition dates and more!
-
THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW by Richard O’Brien
-
October 16
to November 1, 2009
-
That sweet transvestite and his
motley crew did the time warp on Broadway in a 25th anniversary revival and
are back again - this time in Lewisville! Complete with sass from the
audience and an array of audience participation props, this deliberately
kitschy rock 'n' roll sci fi gothic is more fun than
ever.
-
A TUNA CHRISTMAS by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears and Ed Howard
-
December 4
to December 20, 2009
-
In this hilarious sequel to Greater
Tuna, it's Christmas in the third smallest town in Texas. Radio station OKKK
news personalities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie report on various
Yuletide activities, including hot competition in the annual lawn display
contest. In other news, voracious Joe Bob Lipsey's production of "A
Christmas Carol" is jeopardized by unpaid electric bills. Many colorful Tuna
denizens, some you will recognize and some appearing here for the first
time, join in the holiday fun.
-
THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM
SHAKESPEARE (Abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel
Singer, Jess Winfield and Jess Borgeson
-
February
12 to February 28, 2010
-
This show is a whirlwind roller
coaster tribute to the immortal bard. Three actors take on the daunting task
of performing 37 plays and 154 sonnets in under two hours, illuminating the
world of Shakespeare through the use of football, swordplay and hip-hop
music. Irreverent and hilarious, this comedy sensation delights audiences
and critics alike with a refreshing blend of madcap humor that includes
everything from puns and pratfalls to elaborate sight
gags.
-
THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST’S
WIFE by Charles Busch
-
April 16
to May 2, 2010
-
Marjorie Taub, the wife of a
philanthropic allergist, is engulfed in a life crisis of Medea-like
proportions. Her children are grown, her beloved therapist died recently and
her mother, obsessed with bowel movements, grates on her nerves. She tries
to lose herself in a world of art galleries, foreign films and avant guard
theatre, but finds she is barely able to rouse herself from her sofa. Her
spirits suddenly soar when a fascinating and incredibly worldly friend from
her childhood appears on her doorstep. Lee the savior that infuses Marjorie
with life becomes Lee the unwelcome and sinister guest in short
order.
-
URINETOWN, Music by Mark Hollmann, Lyrics by
Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, Book by Greg Kotis
-
July 9 to
August 1, 2010
-
A terrible water shortage has
crippled the Gotham-like town that is the setting for Urinetown The Musical.
In an attempt to regulate water consumption, the government has outlawed the
use of private toilets. The citizenry must use public, pay-per-use amenities
owned and operated by Urine Good Company, a malevolent corporation run by
the corrupt Caldwell B. Cladwell. Urinetown catapults the “comedic romp”
into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern
wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled
laughter.
Season Tickets are available at
2007 prices: Adults $56; Seniors 65 and over $44, Juniors 18 and under $44.
