The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged

By Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield
Directed by Alan Hanna

February 12 - 28, 2010

If you like Shakespeare, you'll like this show. If you hate Shakespeare, you'll love this show! Done at a whirlwind pace and with great delight, this irreverent, fast-paced romp features all 37 of The Bard's plays in under two hours! The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) was London's longest-running comedy. Praised by the Los Angeles Times as "wildly funny" and by the Montreal Gazette as "the funniest show you are likely to see in your entire lifetime," there is no doubt that William Shakespeare himself would approve!

Here's some fun things the cast had to say -- be sure you have that "grain of salt" handy.  Click on the pictures to see more shenanigans.

Doug Fowler is a familiar face to audiences throughout the Metroplex, Doug has been seen in over 75 local productions, as well as film and television.  Some of Doug’s favorite roles have been his Column Award winning turn as Mrs. Taylor/Rev. Billy Hightower in Bat Boy, Presidents Garfield and Ford in Assassins, Mr. Mushnik in The Little Shop of Horrors, Claude Upson in the play Auntie Mame and the musical Mame, Alan McNally in Baby, and Benjamin Franklin in 1776 (twice)!  In addition, his recent one man version of The Women was a sold out hit in Terre Haute.  Twice nominated for a Crystal Beaver award from The St. Paul Lumberjack Society for his haunting portrayal of Paul Bunyan, Doug is pleased to be returning to GLCT in this serious and poignant piece.  Relax and enjoy the show, ya’ll!
Kyle Macy is thrilled to be making his debut at GLCT.  Kyle recently designed the set for Onstage in Bedford’s Brighton Beach Memoirs and will direct The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee there this summer.  He would like it known that he is not responsible for objects “borrowed” from the audience during the course of this production.  Kyle has appeared in numerous productions as a professional actor on a closed course.  Some assembly required, parental supervision not necessary.  Many will enter, few will win.  Please include a SASE, and RSVP ASAP, SWM ISO LTR OBO.  Side effects may include rapid weight gain, heart palpitations, and poor sense of humor.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.  Offer valid in most states, void where prohibited.  Batteries not included.  10c deposit in MI, MA, and NY.  PETA: the animals in the show, namely the actors, were only abused mentally.  Thanks, of course, to Jesus, for keeping my yard so tidy.
Matt Ransdell Jr. is extremely happy about making his DFW debut at the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre.  Matt knew he had begun his journey as a serious actor from the first day he faked being sick to miss a test in junior high school,  and it’s been an uphill adventure ever since.  Matt has been cast as Raulito in Landscape of the Body, Freddy/Philip in Noises Off”, Macheath in The Beggars’ Opera, Maude in Bye Bye Birdie, Joseph in I Never Saw Another Butterfly and more.  Living the life of the real SUPERMAN, acting was the next adventure for this beloved super hero to conquer.  Various movies and plays have been written about Matt’s life such as I Am Legend, 300, P.S. I Love You, West Side Story, and Avatar.  Matt would like to thank his family for all of the support, and also his Brothers (Ftwttt), Sigma Nu Brothers, friends, and the Mexican Bandit from Blazing Saddles for the forever inspiring quote “Badges?  We don’t need no stinkin badges!”
Alan Hanna (Director) has been involved in directing, choreographing, stage managing and many other aspects of theatre production for many years. He has worked with such organizations as Garland Summer Musicals, Theatre Three, Plano Repertory Theatre, Richardson Theatre Centre, and Irving Community Theatre, just to name a few! He directed Anything Goes, Proposals and both productions of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! at GLCT. Alan would like to deny any rumors regarding Hannah Montana and a restraining order.  His favorite roles include Mimi in Rent, Mame in Mame, and Shaquanda of the Jungle (private performances only).  After touring with Creed to do research for this show, he left to work with a group that actually had talent; however, Panic at the Disco had no use for his “skills”.  In his spare time, Alan has been adapting the stand-up of Jay Leno and Conan O’Brian into a two man show called “What the *BEEP* NBC!!”  Shout outs to Paris Hilton and, of course, Hannah Montana. LOVE CG
Jessica Maxey (Stage Manager/Assistant Director), an SMU engineering student, is excited to be making her stage managing debut with GLCT.  She was last seen in the ensemble of Garland Summer Musicals’ The Sound of Music and Mame.  Jessica also appeared as Brooke Ashton/Vicki in ICT’s production of Noises Off.  Jessica, a native of Shreveport, LA, has appeared in numerous productions in the Walla Walla, WA area.  Some of her favorite credits include Romeo and Juliet (in which she played both of the title parts), Tevya in a new ballet version of Fiddler on the Roof, and Troy in the all female version of High School Musical XIII.  After graduation, Jessica is excited to begin her career as a veterinarian, because she loves small children.

John Damian, Sr. (Technical Director) has had the pleasure of working at GLCT for nearly 10 years. John has been lighting designer for many of Alan's shows.  He has served as Technical Director for most of the other shows at GLCT over the past several years, including this season's The Rocky Horror Show and A Tuna Christmas. He also serves as Facilities Manager for the theater, where he is continually involved with many renovation projects, and assisted with the recently completed HVAC improvements that will make the theater much more comfortable next summer. John realizes that without his wife and family’s support, he would not be able to continue to enjoy this wondrous adventure.

Tickets $13 for adults, $10 for seniors (65+) and juniors (18 and younger).
Showtimes: Friday & Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m., Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m.
