Inspired by Neil Simon’s youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows, with all the attendant comic drama, this hilarious classic retells how the harried writing staff frantically scrambles to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman "Max Prince".  The play is notable for its insider’s look at TV comedy writing, and its commentary on the political and social undercurrents of the McCarthy era. This now legendary team of writers fights an ongoing battle with NBC executives who fear Max’s humor is too sophisticated for 1950’s Middle America.
